Picture this: walking out through the massive wooden doors, the castle rising behind you, and seeing your spouse for the first time with that incredible backdrop. There are also beautiful indoor options if you’re planning a cosier ceremony. The lounge is a favourite, with its gorgeous piano and a row of tall windows that fill the space with light. That said, I usually recommend aiming for an outdoor ceremony where possible. Indoor ceremonies here can leave you fully backlit, whereas outdoors gives you more even light and far more flexibility for your photos.

Duns Castle is located to the east of Edinburgh, about an hour and 15 minutes outside of the city. It’s easy to get to by car, and some couples choose to hire a bus to bring guests from the city center.
