meet Alysa

Thanks for stopping by Wildling Weddings. My name is Alysa and I’m an American living in Edinburgh. I fell in love with Scotland after doing my master’s in Edinburgh and had my own Scotland love story when I married my long distance boyfriend (between the US and UK!) in early 2023 in Edinburgh. I very briefly lived in a van (too cold for me) and now enjoy camping around Scotland with friends and family when not photographing weddings and portrait sessions. Some of my favourite places in Scotland are Fife and Mull and I’m hoping to get myself to Islay soon. I like my whisky full of peat and I love trying my hand a cocktail making.

Photography has long been a passion of mine and I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible brands like Get Your Guide to capture the beauty that Scotland offers. I’m thrilled to now work as a Scotland wedding and portrait photographer. I also work with couples to plan their Scotland elopements or micro-weddings and sometimes travel further afield for destination weddings or to other parts of the UK.

If you’re looking for a photographer that blends into the backdrop, look elsewhere. Although I pride myself on capturing candid moments, I love to join in on the banter and get people to laugh and feel comfortable. It can be intimidating being the star of the show so I stay chatty (when appropriate!) to help ease the pressure that comes with a wedding or engagement day.  It also means that I create photos that feel like they’re captured by a long time friend, rather than someone outside of your circle.

When not working with amazing couples like yourselves to photograph elopements, weddings, or portraits in Edinburgh, I run the Scotland travel blog, Voyaging Herbivore

Let’s chat about your dream wedding photos.

Looking for a French-speaking photographer in Scotland? I can help!

You’re in the right place if. . .

1. You like vibrant photos that are full of life, laughter, and love.

2. You don’t mind if your shoes and dress get dirty because it’s all part of the Scotland experience.

3. You’ll laugh and dance around (cheesy, but it’s fun!) when it inevitably rain and you’re the first to jump in the puddles.

If this sounds like you, let’s chat more.

Fun Facts

You share one of the most intimate days of your lives with me so I always like to share a bit about myself. Here are a few random fun facts:

1) I’m technically certified as a competent crew member on a sailing boat (I would not recommend hiring me for your sailing needs though!).

2) I love trying new outdoor activities! I’ve done GoApe, skydiving, hiking, wild swimming, rock climbing, and canyoneering (the photos of me in the green helmet are from the wonderful team at The Adventure Photographers). White water rafting is still on the list!

3) I went snorkelling for the first time in Zanzibar on my honeymoon and was so nervous but it ended up being one of the best experiences of my life! I also finally got to use my GoPro dome for the first time and am now obsessed!

4) I love reading and typically am a romantasy reader. Recently I’ve been getting a bit more into crime books as well.

5) The photo of me with the stags is from a wonderful friend and photographer Lawrence Scott while we were at a workshop in Glencoe. No matter who you choose as your wedding photographer, the community here in Scotland is amazing!

Scotland is not just a land of majestic castles and breathtaking landscapes, it’s a place where love and magic collide to create unforgettable memories. An enchanting place to say “I do” and start your happily ever after.
