THE HERMITAGE WEDDINGS
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GETTING MARRIED AT PERTHSHIRE’S HERMITAGE
Tucked away in the heart of Highland Perthshire, The Hermitage is a peaceful woodland wedding location set beside the River Braan and overlooking the dramatic Black Linn waterfall. Surrounded by towering ancient trees, mossy stone paths, and beautifully maintained grounds, it feels wildly romantic and completely removed from the outside world
.
The Hermitage is ideal for intimate weddings and elopements, especially for couples who feel most at home in nature and want a ceremony that feels meaningful rather than traditional. With options for outdoor woodland vows or shelter inside the historic Ossian’s Hall, it offers a flexible, atmospheric setting for small celebrations.
REASONS TO HAVE A HERMITAGE WEDDING

Ossain’s Hall
Ossian’s Hall is an 18th-century viewing room overlooking the Black Linn waterfall, offering a beautiful indoor option if the weather turns. Once lined with mirrors to reflect the rushing water, it’s filled with history and atmosphere, making it perfect for intimate ceremonies or celebrations of up to 30 guests (although that would be a tight squeeze!). It’s a wonderful backup (or primary) choice for couples drawn to the magic of the Hermitage but wanting a little shelter.

nearby reception options
As The Hermitage isn’t a traditional wedding venue, couples usually celebrate elsewhere after their ceremony. Nearby options like Dunkeld House Hotel, Cardney Steading, Murthly Estate, and The Rhynd offer everything from luxury hotel receptions to rustic barn celebrations. This flexibility makes it easy to pair a woodland ceremony with a reception that truly fits your style.

the hermitage in autumn
Autumn is one of the most magical times to get married at The Hermitage, with golden leaves, deep reds, and misty woodland paths. The seasonal colours pair beautifully with the waterfalls and stone features, creating a rich, atmospheric backdrop. It’s an especially stunning choice for couples dreaming of a romantic, nature-filled elopement. If you’re lucky, you might even catch the fish jumping and swimming upstream.
AMAZING LOCATION FOR ELOPEMENTS
The Hermitage is a fantastic venue for couple’s who want to be close to in the woods with luxury hotels and amenities nearby in Dunkeld.

Please note that the Hermitage is not an exclusive-use venue, meaning that other visitors will be around. Ossain’s Hall is closed to the public during the ceremony.
