WHY CHOOSE ME TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR edinburgh castle WEDDING?
Edinburgh Castle is an incredible place to get married, but it’s also one of the most challenging venues to photograph – and that’s where experience really matters! I’ve photographed weddings in both St. Margaret’s Chapel and the Gatehouse Suite, two spaces with tricky, low, and constantly changing light, and I know exactly how to work with them to create beautiful, natural images.
Because photography access is limited and you’re restricted to your booked areas, I also know the best angles, routes, and moments to capture stunning portraits as you make your way toward the exit. There’s no time for guesswork here – knowing the venue, the light, and the flow is absolutely key, and it means you can relax and fully enjoy your day while I handle the rest!

EDINBURGH CASTLE QUESTIONS
Q&A
Does Edinburgh Castle do weddings?
Yes, Edinburgh Castle can host both your marriage ceremony and your reception. Couples have the choice of several on-site locations, including the castle’s chapel (which also happens to be the city’s oldest building) or the Queen Anne Building (among others).
Can you get married in a Scottish castle?
You most certainly can. Many of the country’s chateaus are available for wedding and reception hire. A few favorites include Duns Castle and Newhall Estate.
Does Edinburgh Castle host weddings year round?
No, weddings cannot take place at the castle during the city’s peak tourist season (between June and September).
Is Edinburgh Castle exclusive use?
Not unless you pay for the privilege! For most couples, during your wedding there will be tourists and potentially other events happening on site. Please note that you won’t be able to go around the castle for photos and will be restricted to your own area.
Does anyone still live at Edinburgh Castle?
The castle is not inhabited by anyone and hasn’t been since the 16th century. From the 17th century onwards, the purpose of the castle was as a military base. Some parts of the castle are still run by the British army, but the villa now predominantly serves as a tourist attraction.
Do you offer wedding photography at Edinburgh Castle?
Yes! I’ve photographed in most of Edinburgh Castle’s ceremony location and am experienced at getting you the best photos as we walk towards the exit.
