Hello! My name is Alysa and I’m a wedding and portrait photographer based in Edinburgh. I’m so excited that you’re considering a photoshoot in Scotland. This beautiful country has so much to offer. As much as I love photoshoots in Edinburgh, it’s so much fun to get outside of the city and explore well known areas like Glencoe, and lesser known spots with castles, ruins, wild garlic, and more!

Alysa (Wilding Weddings), apart from my husband, was the MVP of the wedding day! Alysa coordinated and was the photographer for my 3 day(!) wedding, and she was incredible from start to finish. Alysa captured our day exactly as we had hoped, she really understood the shots we were looking for, and gave gentle direction without making things feel unnatural. Our guests all commented on how lovely she was, and we were absolutely blown away when the images came through. Alysa is amazing! I am also a photographer, so I'm always uncomfortable in front of the lens. She made me and my husband feel right at home, and it was so easy to have fun! We were visiting, and she suggested a beautiful location (St. Anthony's Chapel Ruins). We had never been there, so she sent us a handy map that we used a few times to make sure we were going in the right direction. 10/10 experience, and I can't wait to do it again! What an incredible experience it was with Alysa! Months before the shoot she was able to provide location suggestions for us, as we were visiting Edinburgh for the first time. She was attentive and communicative the entire process. She immediately knew the tone and aesthetic we were going for and was able to guide us in the right direction. I was travelling from India and came across Alysa's website. Her communication from the beginning was on point and the replies were always prompt. She understood really well how I wanted the portraits to be and she did a wonderful job with that. She was very friendly at the day of the shoot and she was very easy to work with and fun as well. Alysa did the photography for our elopement wedding in Edinburgh in August 2024. We found her on Instagram and loved her style. Where can I learn more information about the locations?

Are we limited to these locations?

No! You are more than welcome to reach out if you have a different location in mind. I often get requests for photographs of the estates people are staying at (because you can indeed rent a castle in Scotland!) or different natural sites such as the Hermitage. Please get in touch here for a custom quote.

Do you provide transportation?

No, Adventure Photoshoots do not include transportation. For Glencoe shoots I recommend having a car to travel between locations.

How far in advance can I book a shoot?

Adventure Shoot bookings open 5 months in advance.

When will I choose a time?

After booking we’ll discuss time options based on when locations are open and when there’s light available. Please get in touch using the form at the bottom of this page if you want to check on a specific time.

Do you offer photoshoots in edinburgh?

What happens if it rains/can we do an indoor shoot?

Scotland is a cold and rainy country but it is stunning! The shoot will be the most fun if you embrace the wind and rain with full expectations of romantic windswept photos.

The weather can change instantly and weather radars are rarely right. If it’s the case that there is exceptionally bad weather I will offer to reschedule, however short of a full-on hurricane we will continue.

I don’t offer indoor shoots because these require prior approval from the venue. Venues often also charge a fee for commercial photography. When you pay a photographer this is commercial photography, regardless of how you plan on using the photos. If you have an indoor or private location you wish to shoot in, it is your responsibility to organise this and pay any necessary fees.

WHEN CAN WE EXPECT TO SEE OUR PHOTOS?

Photos are professionally edited and delivered in a private online gallery where you can download your favorite photos in high-resolution jpg format. I do my best to deliver everything as soon as possible without sacrificing quality. You can usually expect to see all your photographs within 4 weeks of the photoshoot day. Upon delivery you are responsible for safekeeping all materials so I suggest you make a back up.

DO YOU PUBLISH ANY OF THE MATERIALS?

Posting my work online is an important part of developing my business and reaching potential clients. I might post a couple of photos on social media, as well as on the blog. If you are worried about your privacy or don’t wish to have your photos posted anywhere, please do communicate this with me beforehand during your shoot or before via email.

Why can't I book a weekend?

In addition to working as a vacation and portrait photographer, I do a lot of wedding photography and these usually take place on the weekends. If you can only do your Edinburgh photoshoot on a weekend, please get in touch using the form below and if I don’t have a wedding booked I will do my best to accommodate you.

HOW DO YOU EDIT?

I don’t overedit the photos. Please use my portfolio and the work on this page as an example of what your photos may look like. I love to work with natural light and to create deep, rich edits that showcase the beauty of Scotland (and you!).

WHAT IF I want a photoshoot IN ANOTHER COUNTRY?

Worry not! I love traveling and am available anywhere you want me to come. Please get in touch for more details.

How far in advance should I secure the date for my session?

We’ll do our best to accommodate any last-minute bookings, but to ensure you get your preferred date, time, and photographer, we recommend booking at least 4 weeks in advance. Adventure shoots can be booked up to 4 months in advance.

Why should I book with you instead of a big travel photography booking site?

I love working with clients from all over the world regardless of where they find me. However, it can be disheartening when I do all of the work in arranging availability, creating timelines, providing recommendations for locations, traveling, shooting, editing, and requesting reviews only to receive about 50% of what you pay to a big corporation. By booking directly with me I can better assure you of quality and service – plus you’re supporting my small Edinburgh-based business – truly supporting the economy of the place you’re traveling to and what’s more local than that.

Do you photograph proposals?

Absolutely! Proposals are one of my favorite things to photograph. I’m more than happy to hide and make it a surprise or plan it as part of the shoot. There is no minimum duration for booking a proposal shoot.

Will you photograph my wedding?

Absolutely! I offer different wedding packages that you can view here. The packages listed here are not suitable for ceremonies of any kind.
