There are so many great things about getting hitched in Scotland, but perhaps the most wonderful aspect is the country’s relaxed laws on outdoor wedding ceremonies.

Yes, unlike many other countries, it is completely legal to tie the knot almost anywhere outdoors (providing the landowner has given their approval and the ceremony is being performed by a registered celebrant).

One such place that is known for its exceptional beauty is The Trossachs. If you’re planning on getting married in this neck of the woods, we fully recommend a Venachar lochside wedding.

Loch Venachar

Many happy couples flock to Scotland to indulge in an outdoor ceremony on the shores of the country’s many serene lochs.

Loch Venachar can be found in the famous Trossachs area of the country and sits between the town of Callander and Brig ‘o Turk. The loch itself is 3.7 miles wide and is surrounded by peaceful forest, making it perfect for couples with a love of the outdoors.

But it isn’t just the sight of a pretty loch on the table here. Sitting on the shores of this body of calm water is a stunning wedding venue.

Lochside Wedding Venue

Located on the cusp of Callander, Venachar Lochside is a natural and rustic wedding venue that allows couples the joys of an open-air wedding while having everything they need to complete their day, including:

  • Accommodation
  • Menus
  • Packages
  • Brochures
  • Supplier recommendations
  • And more.

The friendly folk at Venachar Lochside will help you plan your fabulous wedding from the moment you make contact to the big day itself.

In fact, this eco-friendly venue even has its own in-house wedding co-ordinator who has helped organise hundreds of weddings, so you won’t be left to your own devices when it comes to planning your big day.

There are 3 spaces to choose from to hold your ceremony:

  • The lawn & decking area – This rustic south-facing spot is ideal for a summer wedding and is a short walk from the loch, meaning you get a seriously beautiful backdrop for your wedding photography.
  • Upstairs – Even in the height of summer, Scotland’s weather can be wet ‘n’ wild, so having an indoor area for your big day can prevent any sogginess! The upstairs of the venue can seat approximately 100 guests across its beautiful rustic wooden floor, as well as offering stunning views of the nearby loch.
  • Downstairs – Decked out with an impressive glass front, couples can enjoy a 180-degree view of the rural surroundings, as well as easy access to the lawn and decking area, giving you the best of both worlds – whatever the weather!

Wedding Packages

Irrespective of the size of your ceremony/reception, wedding packages can be a godsend for the busy couple who is overwhelmed by the prospect of planning their big day.

There are several different types of in-house wedding packages available, but for those planning an intimate elopement, why not check out Wildling Weddings’ very own Elopement Package?!

Wedding Menus

The foodie in us might suggest that the scran is the most important part of any wedding, and who are we to dispute that?!

Luckily, Venachar Lochside has its own delicious wedding menu for happy couples to chow down on some seriously delicious eats. The venue’s award-winning restaurant prides itself on serving up mouthwatering and sustainable food, including canapés, evening bites, and a three-course meal.

Lochside Wedding

What’s so special about a lochside wedding, you may be wondering?

Well, unless you’ve witnessed the rural Scottish beauty of at least one of the country’s many lochs, it is hard to put into words how special a lochside wedding is.

For starters, they are ideal for couples who love the great outdoors and all things nature-related. There’s nothing quite like the fresh mountain air and the relaxing sound of the loch shores lapping gently at the quiet beaches.

Also, many of Scotland’s lochs are nestled in amongst a smattering of mountains, making them an ideal starting/ending point for a hiking wedding.

Finally, weddings and wedding planning can be stressful, and oftentimes, having a big, hectic ceremony right in the heart of a busy city can mean your day isn’t overly peaceful and it can be hard to relax around such hustle and bustle.

With a lochside wedding, you are instantly at ease at the mere sight of the wedding location, allowing you to wed your special someone in a quiet, peaceful, and stress-free environment.
