There’s something truly magical about capturing the moment when two people decide to spend their lives together. It’s a moment filled with anticipation, excitement, and love. Jessica’s reach-out to me last summer was just that – a request to document her upcoming proposal to her partner, Danielle. As a photographer who loves capturing surprise proposals, I was thrilled to be a part of this special day and went all in to make sure everything was perfect.
Our journey began with a series of email exchanges. Jessica and I discussed every detail, from the perfect location to the ideal time of day for the proposal. After much deliberation, we settled on a morning proposal at the Ross Fountain in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh. The serene and picturesque setting of this historic garden promised to be the perfect backdrop for their love story.
The day arrived, and despite the rainy morning in October, I headed down to Princes Street Gardens to await the arrival of Jessica and Danielle. The weather may not have been on our side, but there’s something about the Scottish autumn that transforms the landscape into a canvas of rich, vibrant colors. The golden leaves and the earthy hues of the trees added a touch of warmth and magic to the scene, making it an enchanting setting for the proposal.
As the appointed time approached, I felt the excitement and nervous energy in the air. I positioned myself near the Ross Fountain, attempting to hide from view.
When Jessica and Danielle arrived, my heart raced alongside theirs. The moment had finally come. Jessica got down on one knee and presented a beautiful ring to Danielle. Against the backdrop of the Ross Fountain, surrounded by the vibrant autumn colors, she asked the most important question of her life: “Will you marry me?” The proposal was a beautiful, heartfelt moment, and Danielle’s answer was a resounding “Yes!”
Following the proposal, we decided to take a leisurely stroll through Princes Street Gardens, celebrating the new chapter in their lives.
Our journey didn’t stop there. We continued our adventure by heading to Calton Hill, where we found breathtaking views of Edinburgh’s skyline.
Despite the rain, the day was nothing short of perfect. The weather added an element of unpredictability to their love story, reminding us that love can weather any storm. The autumn colors, the serene gardens, and the stunning cityscape were all essential elements that made their proposal truly magical.
